PE and Sports Premium
The funding has been provided to promote and encourage children to participate in a range of physical activity, both in and out of school, to prevent our pupils from becoming part of the concerning statistics relating to rising obesity rates. PE and Sports Premium funding has jointly been provided by the Department for Education, the Department for Health and Culture and the Department for Media and Sport. It has been allocated to primary school Headteachers and is ring-fenced to be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools. The Government believes that Headteachers and school leaders should decide how to use the funding for PE and Sports in school. Since the introduction of the PE and Sports Premium, Strathmore School has used the funding to improve the quality of PE and the amount of inclusive sporting opportunities offered to the students.
In 2017-2018, Strathmore’s Primary funding allocation was £16,250. During this time, Strathmore School relocated onto new purpose built facilities over three sites and the lead PE teacher changed. Due to these significant changes in provision, the money was held in order to spend time training the lead PE teacher and researching appropriate resources suitable for the changing cohort of students.
Please refer to 2018-19 document for future plans for PE.
