Home School Communication

We believe that clear, open communication between the school and parents/guardians has a positive impact on learner outcomes. Please see the Home School Communication Policy below for full details.

Our experience, recently and historically, has caused us to review how home school communication between classes and home happens. We want to create the best method that is manageable and sustainable. Therefore, we no longer use home school diaries. These became less and less effective and were prone to be lost and damaged, so information was missed or, usually, passed on to school via alternative means like e-mails.

Parents should email their child's class using this format, [class]@strathmore.org.uk for non-urgent teaching and learning issues, including (but not exclusively):

  • Daily updates about how the pupil has been at home
  • Information relating to how they are (if they have not slept and this is likely to impact their ability to learn)
  • Weekend news
  • Requests for resources
  • Requests for support with behaviour
  • Request for an appointment with a therapist

We aim to acknowledge all emails within 2 working days and following this, to respond in full (or arrange a meeting or phone call if appropriate) within 3 working days. If a query or concern is urgent, and you need a response sooner than this, please call the school.

Parents should always email info@strathmore.org.uk about planned medical appointments (your email should include a photo/scan of the appointment letter).

If you would like to schedule a meeting with a member of staff, please email the appropriate address (see Appendix 1 in the Policy) or call the school to book an appointment.

While teachers are available at the beginning or end of the school day, if you need to speak to them urgently we recommend you book appointments via the class email, [class]@strathmore.org.uk.

If you would like to meet with one of the School Leadership Team, please call the school office at the respective site or email info@strathmore.org.uk. If your child is in Primary, please contact Laura Wrigglesworth, Assistant Headteacher for Primary and if your child is in Secondary,  please contact Adriana Martyr, Assistant Headteacher for Secondary.

The aim of the below policy is to improve Home School communication.

We are looking forward to seeing you in school soon or online, as per your preference.

Best wishes

Sarah
